The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) will start tracking Santa Claus from 6:00 pm (Japan time) on December 24, 2021. You can track Santa Claus on the move with a website or an app for your smartphone.
The pursuit of Santa Claus started in 1955 at the Central Defense Air Force Base (CONAD), the predecessor of NORAD. Since 1958, NORAD, which was founded on behalf of CONAD, has taken over the mission and is tracking Santa Claus every year. “NORAD Tracks Santa” tracks Santa Claus flying around the world on Christmas Eve night based on information such as radar and artificial satellites.
According to NORAD, Santa Claus usually starts from the International Date Line on the Pacific Ocean and moves westward. However, the flight path depends on the weather, so it is completely unpredictable.
From 6:00 pm (Japan time) on December 24, you can track Santa Claus from the “NORAD Tracks Santa” website or the smartphone app. You can also call or email The NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center and NORAD staff will tell you where Santa Claus is.
The “NORAD Tracks Santa” website introduces Santa Claus and Christmas traditions, as well as access to gift shops that sell Santa goods.
